After spending years developing her distinctive artistic style, talented Greenacres supported employee, Rachael Young, is thrilled to be holding her first solo art exhibition.
For Rachael, who is 26-years-old and has Down syndrome, art is the perfect creative outlet as it has no right or wrong and when she is not happy with something, she can just go over it again using all the bright colours that she loves.
Colour is really special to me and can brighten up everyone’s day, Rachael said.
I love my art and I guess it really started when I was little because I loved colouring in and was very particular about it.
I took my pencils and my books everywhere I went, even on holidays.
Rachael starting exploring art as a high school student at St Mary’s College, Wollongong, and further developed her passion with regular art classes after leaving school.
As well as her flourishing career as an artist, Rachael is also a supported employee at The Lagoon Seafood Restaurant and Greenacres Industries.
