Once again the Greenacres M2M Challenge, held on Sunday July 30, was a huge success. The weather was perfect, the atmosphere was fantastic and more than 1200 participants made it over the finish line with a smile on their face.

After placing 6th in the first M2M Challenge, Jeff Chasling came back this year with a winning time of 54:33 minutes, while Tommy Goodall wasn’t too far behind with a time of 55.55. First year winner, Claire Rayner, reclaimed her crown as the fastest woman beating her friend and last year’s winner, Sally Towse, who came second.

The majority of participants, though, were walkers who took the opportunity to soak up the views from Robertson’s Lookout, enjoy the atmosphere and appreciate a special part of Wollongong not usually accessible for walking.

Greenacres will be using the nearly $80,000 raised through the event on creating an innovative new Community Life and Leisure centre in Lake Illawarra.

I would like to thank the M2M Challenge team for all their hard work, as well as the many volunteers who ensured the event ran smoothly; our generous sponsors; the communities of Mt Keira and Mt Kembla; the first aid and emergency services; the people who participated and everybody who generously donated.
